Jesus was praying Psalm 22. The cry is the opening of a psalm in which God hears the sufferer, and it belongs to the Son bearing sin, not to a split inside God or to a crucifixion that never happened.
- The resurrection of Jesus
The Christian claim that Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised, and the main ways that claim is doubted.

Islam
- Jesus in the Qur'an and the Gospels
The Qur’an calls Jesus the Messiah, born of Mary, and says he was not crucified; the Gospels tell that death, his burial, and his resurrection.
- What Does the Qur'an Say About the Bible?
The Qur'an calls the Torah and the Gospel guidance, tells the People of the Scripture to judge by them, and says it confirms what was already with them.
- Has the Bible Been Changed? The Muslim Corruption Claim
The Qur'an accuses some People of the Scripture of distorting words and of writing scripture with their own hands. It also speaks of the Torah and the Gospel as books still in their possession.
- What Is the Injil?
Muslims hear the Injil as a book God gave to Jesus. The New Testament uses 'gospel' for the news about Christ, and the Qur'an tells the People of the Gospel to judge by what they have.
- Did Paul Invent Christianity?
Muslims often say Paul turned the prophet Jesus into a divine saviour. The creed he says he received, and the apostles he names, are the test of that claim.
- Did Jesus Die on the Cross?
The Qur'an is widely read as saying Jesus was not crucified. The Gospels, Paul, and two Roman-era historians say he was.
- Was Jesus a Muslim?
No. Jesus was a Jew who worshipped Israel’s God, prayed to the Father, and was crucified. The Qur’an calls his disciples muslims in the sense of people who submit to God, which is not the religion of Muhammad.
- How Old Was Aisha When She Married Muhammad?
In Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, Aisha says she was married at six and that the marriage was consummated at nine. Those reports also say she remained with him nine years, until his death at sixty-three.
- Is Jesus God? Where Jesus Claimed to Be God
Yes. Jesus is truly God and truly human. He forgave sins, applied God’s name and honor to himself, and received the words “My LORD and my God,” which is why the church confesses him as God the Son.
- Was Jesus a Real Person?
Yes. Jesus of Nazareth was crucified under Pontius Pilate. Paul, the Gospels, Tacitus, and Josephus all place him there, while people who had known his family were still alive.
- My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?
Jesus was praying Psalm 22. The cry is the opening of a psalm in which God hears the sufferer, and it belongs to the Son bearing sin, not to a split inside God or to a crucifixion that never happened.
- Is Muhammad the Prophet of Deuteronomy 18?
Qur'an 7:157 says the unlettered prophet is written in the Torah and the Gospel. Deuteronomy 18 is the passage most often offered.
- Is Muhammad the Paraclete or Ahmad?
Some Muslims hear Muhammad in Jesus' promise of the Comforter, and in the name Ahmad in Qur'an 61:6. John 14–16 says who that person is.
- Does Jesus Do What Only God Does?
The Qur'an says God gives life to the dead, is the First and the Last, and comes with the angels. The Gospel says Jesus does those things.
- If Jesus Is God, Why Did He Pray?
Jesus prayed, said the Father is greater, and said he did not know the hour. The same Gospel says the Word was God and was made flesh.
- Can God Have a Son?
The Qur'an condemns the claim that God has taken a son, especially a son by a consort. Christians deny that picture and still confess the eternal Son.
- Who Wrote the Qur'an? How It Was Compiled
Muslims confess that God sent down the Qur'an and guards it. Sahih al-Bukhari also describes a collection after Muhammad's death and a standard copy under Uthman.
- Tawhid and Christian monotheism
Muslims and Christians both say God is one. The argument is whether Father, Son, and Spirit are partners beside God or the one God.
- Do Muslims and Christians Worship the Same God?
Is Allah the same God? Muslims and Christians both confess one Creator, the God of Abraham. They do not confess the same account of who that God is: Christians say Jesus is God, and the Qur'an denies it.
- The Trinity
Christians confess that the one God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: not three gods, and not one person taking turns.
- Does the Trinity Depend on 1 John 5:7?
The sentence about the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost in the King James Version of 1 John 5:7 was added later. The Trinity does not rest on it.
- The Deity of Christ: Is Jesus God?
Yes. Christians confess that Jesus is truly God and truly human. The passages are in Is Jesus God?; this page maps how Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Latter-day Saints, and atheists hear that confession.
- The resurrection of Jesus
The Christian claim that Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised, and the main ways that claim is doubted.
Jehovah's Witnesses
- John 1 and the Word
Why the New World Translation reads John 1:1 as “a god,” what the Study Edition’s note says about a qualitative theos, and why Nicene Christians still say the Word was God.
- Is Jesus the Creator or a Creature?
Jehovah’s Witnesses say a literal reading of Colossians 1:16 would make Jesus the Creator, so the New World Translation adds “other.” John 1:3 and Hebrews 1:10–12 do not leave him outside creation as a creature.
- Is Jesus Michael the Archangel?
Insight on the Scriptures identifies Michael the archangel with Jesus. Hebrews 1 sets the Son over every angel and has God command the angels to bow to him.
- Should Jesus Be Worshipped, or Only Given Obeisance?
The New World Translation uses “worship” for Jehovah and “do obeisance” for Jesus, though its own interlinear shows one Greek verb. Hebrews 1:6, Matthew 28, and Revelation 5 give the Son the honor angels refuse.
- What Does “Firstborn of All Creation” Mean?
The New World Translation’s study note says Colossians 1:15 means Jesus is the first creature Jehovah made. In Scripture “firstborn” is also the title of the heir who ranks first, and the next verse says all things were created in him.
- Who Is the Alpha and the Omega?
Jehovah’s Witnesses reserve “the Alpha and the Omega” for Jehovah. In the New World Translation the one who became dead says he is the First and the Last, and Revelation 22:13 joins that title to the Alpha and the Omega.
- Is the Holy Spirit a Person or an Impersonal Force?
Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that the holy spirit is God’s active force, not a person. The New World Translation still has the Spirit speaking, being lied to, and being grieved, and it calls the lie a lie to God.
- Was Jesus Raised Bodily?
Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that the risen Jesus is a spirit creature who materialized bodies of flesh. In the New World Translation he says a spirit does not have flesh and bones, and John says the body they would tear down is the body he would raise.
- Does “Jehovah” Belong in the New Testament?
The New World Translation uses the name Jehovah 237 times in the New Testament. The Study Edition’s note on Acts 7:60 says the Greek manuscripts read “Lord.”
- How Reliable Is the New World Translation?
Jehovah’s Witnesses present the New World Translation as a clear, faithful Bible. Its own study notes show where the English was chosen to fit the Society’s teaching.
- Does the Trinity Depend on 1 John 5:7?
The sentence about the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost in the King James Version of 1 John 5:7 was added later. The Trinity does not rest on it.
- Who Is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
Jehovah’s Witnesses identify the faithful and discreet slave with the Governing Body. Matthew 24 and Luke 12 are the texts that have to carry that identification.
- The Watch Tower and Scripture
Jehovah’s Witnesses hold the Bible as God’s word and the Watch Tower publications as the channel that explains it.
- Why Don’t Jehovah’s Witnesses Take Blood?
Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse whole-blood transfusions because they read Genesis 9:4, Leviticus 17, and Acts 15:29 as forbidding blood. On 18 September 2026 their Governing Body said the four main components are now a personal decision.
- Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Celebrate Birthdays and Christmas?
No. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays or Christmas. They say birthday parties have pagan roots and that the only birthday feasts in the Bible end in death, and they keep the Memorial of Jesus’ death instead.
- The Trinity
Christians confess that the one God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit: not three gods, and not one person taking turns.

Yes. Jesus is truly God and truly human. He forgave sins, applied God’s name and honor to himself, and received the words “My LORD and my God,” which is why the church confesses him as God the Son.
Latter-day Saints
- Do Mormons Believe in the Trinity?
No. Latter-day Saints teach that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings, one in purpose. That is not the Nicene confession of one God in three persons.
- Are Mormons Christians?
Latter-day Saints worship Jesus Christ and use his name. Their teaching of God, of Jesus, and of salvation is not the Nicene confession, so they are not a denomination inside Trinitarian Christianity.
- Joseph Smith and revelation
Latter-day Saints confess that God called Joseph Smith, that the apostolic church had been lost, and that scripture was restored through him.
- The Book of Mormon
The Book of Mormon presents itself as an ancient record, translated by Joseph Smith, written to show that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God.

Atheism
- Does God exist?
Christians say everything that exists depends on God, who is not one more object inside the world, and they point to what has been made and to Jesus.
- The problem of evil
Scripture records the protest against suffering. Christians answer from the cross and the resurrection, and they do not itemize a reason for each horror.
- Was Jesus a Real Person?
Yes. Jesus of Nazareth was crucified under Pontius Pilate. Paul, the Gospels, Tacitus, and Josephus all place him there, while people who had known his family were still alive.
