What Is a Mosque?

A mosque is the Muslim place of prostration. The Qur’an calls the masjids for Allah, points prayer toward the Sacred Mosque, and has a caller gather the people. Christians say worship is not tied to a direction toward Mecca.

A mosque is a Muslim place of prostration, the masjid. The Qur’an says the masjids are for Allah, that prayer turns toward the Sacred Mosque in Mecca, and that people leave trade when the call comes on Friday. The religion that has a mosque is Islam. Christians say the hour has come to worship the Father in spirit and truth, not by facing Mecca.
