# Secrets of Enoch (2 Enoch, Slavonic Enoch) 40:9

**Not Scripture.** Read [Why](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#research-notice) and [the Issues With This Book](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#issues-with-this-book).

And I wrote down the course of the thunder and lightning, and they showed me the keys, and their guardians and their path by which they go. They are brought forth in bonds, in measured degree, and are let go in bonds, lest by their heavy course and vehemence they should overload the clouds of wrath and destroy everything on earth.

Not received as Scripture by the Jewish canon or by the major Christian churches, apart from local exceptions such as the Ethiopian Orthodox canon, which includes 1 Enoch and Jubilees. This is not the Apocrypha.
