# Secrets of Enoch (2 Enoch, Slavonic Enoch) 23:4

**Mysticism or Magic.** Chapter 23 says souls were created before the world, and that Enoch wrote 366 books from an angel’s dictation. The numbers are the 1896 chapter and verse marks in the scan. [This issue](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#issue-secrets-souls).

And Vretil said to me: All the things which I have told thee, thou hast written down. Sit down and write all about the souls of men, those of them which are not born, and the places prepared for them for ever.

Not received as Scripture by the Jewish canon or by the major Christian churches, apart from local exceptions such as the Ethiopian Orthodox canon, which includes 1 Enoch and Jubilees. This is not the Apocrypha.
