# Secrets of Enoch (2 Enoch, Slavonic Enoch) 23:1

**Not Scripture.** Read [Why](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#research-notice) and [the Issues With This Book](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#issues-with-this-book).

**Mysticism or Magic.** Chapter 23 says souls were created before the world, and that Enoch wrote 366 books from an angel’s dictation. The numbers are the 1896 chapter and verse marks in the scan. [This issue](https://apologetics.wiki/non-canonical/2-enoch#issue-secrets-souls).

And he told me all the works of the heaven and the earth and the sea, and their goings and comings, - the noise of the thunder; the sun and moon and the movement of the stars; their changings; the seasons and years; days and hours; and goings of the winds; and the numbers of the angels; the songs of the armed hosts.

Not received as Scripture by the Jewish canon or by the major Christian churches, apart from local exceptions such as the Ethiopian Orthodox canon, which includes 1 Enoch and Jubilees. This is not the Apocrypha.
